2007 Reunion Team Member Page

Here you will find the state of all things reunion. Please refer to this private page often and help us keep track, start and most importantly, finish all of these items so we can collectively meet our goal to make this 2007 Reunion Weekend the best reunion the coast has ever seen!

as of June 24, 2007

Alumni Contacts

We need to focus on this at all times. Everyone on the team needs to put in a little time each weekend; searching the web, calling friends, etc. The hall can fit 400+ people.

Dance Band - Done

The Rip Tides will play from approximately 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
Lead singer, Jeff Rupert, asked me if there will be people there to help him unload and move the equipment. So, I guess thats me, Tim, Mike, Chris, Gigolo Tony and anyone else we can find. I'll try to get them in there by 3:00 PM.

Hawaiian Entertainment - Done

Live music from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Hula from 7:oo PM to 8:oo PM.
They will dress and such out of the building.

Canned Music - Done

I'll bring my DJ outfit to play the tunes from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This will include a microphone to make announcements. Plus we can have tunes while we set up the hall!

4:00 to 6:00 PM foods Done

The caterer is going to take care of this. I have it covered, no worries or hassles for us. Let's just let the pro deal with this.

Buffet

All we need to do here is to add a couple of veggie dishes. Please look over the menu on the site and think over what's wrong and right with the current choices, we have time to change this around.

Drinks - Done

SECERT! We will have an open bar once again. SECERT! No need for the Princeton Landing crew to hear about this! Also, Tim and I will borrow or rent a slushie machine so we can have strawberry daiquiris. Mel said the blenders are to noisy and time consuming to deal with.

IDES Hall -

Decorations:

Plants - we need to pin this down; ferns, etc. beg, borrow, steal! - not yet done
Balloons - I have 50 orange, 50 white and 50 black; we'll need the helium, ribbon and hold down weight material (sand?) - what am I going to use to weigh these down?
Table cloths - I got the 6 each Orange and Black, plus 6 each of the theme covers. These with the carters covers should do us great. Done
Table identifiers - I was thinking of making signs to go on the tables; 1971, etc., maybe one at each end and one in the middle, so at the start of things, people can congregate at their table to meet and great other same year alumni? Done
Hawaiian Shirts
- I have about 12 shirts which I'm brining up to hang on the walls and such. Done
Surf Board - I have one 10 foot board I'll bring up. Not sure what to do with it, but I have one. Marilyn has a busted up board as well.
Travel Posters - We need somebody to go to the local Travel Agencies and see if they will donate a few posters, maybe 10 would be good, the more the better; Hawaii, Tahiti, the Bahamas, etc. Done
Sandwich Board - I have a 2 x 3 plastic sandwich board we can use for something? Inform people of the cost before they mount the stairs? Put something funny on it?
The front door area - What do we want to do here? The wall you have to go around upon entering is now covered with cork board. Very easy to hang posters, photos, ribbon, etc.
Back side of entrance wall - And what do do with this prime space?
Table Center pieces - Cathy will do these. Thx!
General decorations - I picked up 4, 6 foot silk flower things, violet in color. Cathy bought some penis flowers (her word). Things are moving here.

We need some ideas here folks. Maybe something we can use for window coverings, etc. The bamboo rolls I have are too beat up to bring. I know that the Oriental Trading Company and those other places will have a bunch of things we can pick up as well.

I picked up a bunch of stuff at Big Lots. Please see the photos and the amounts of everything I have so far:

Photo Area

We have over 400 photos printed up at this point. Mike will bring his display panels and set them up accordingly. Basically, Mike said he'd take care of this, but he'll need help. I envision some kind of simple maze for the people to wander around, also, I suppose it doesn't have to be regulated to one side of the hall? Maybe most of it on the right side and maybe a couple of satellite displays? I have 8 of those padded office cubical dividers which can be used for photos, wrapped with theme table coverings, etc. The only concerns I have here is the lighting and the height of the panels and dividers.

Obituary Area

Nancy is going to handle most of this. She'll make up a tri-fold thing which will list out the people. Then she'll have a binder or two for the photos and we'll have post-it notes and pens available for people to write notes and such to help us out.

Teachers Yearbook - Done

I'll take care of this. It's going to have a laminated cover and back, bound with comb bindings, with the diploma of recognition included. Each teacher that wrote up a little something will get a full page and a few photos, the rest will be put in alphabetical order, from 1971 to 1980. No mention of who may have passed away and if they only appeared in a couple of yearbooks, I didn't included them.

Gift Give-Away - Done

This will run pretty much like last time, although we'll try to have it called out by name instead of number. Same as last time, we call a name, they come up and fill a little plastic bag with booty. I have about 180 single DVD's, a few collector sets of music concerts and a bunch of one-off items. We have about 190 CD's of music from the '70's and a bunch of concert related items.

For the "Most Kids", "Furthest Traveled", etc., I'm putting together gift baskets which will have some similar items already listed and then some cool coastside material from Cunha's, etc. Marilyn will make the 3 or 4 baskets I'm short, plus the plastic wrap, available to finish them off. I picked up a bunch of cool stuff in HMB, as well as candles and such at local stores. Not done yet but they're coming together.

Team Member Identifiers - Done

I've been messing about with this; shirts, etc. I've come up with a cool idea which I'll keep secret but I assure you it's not inappropriate, unsightly or embarrassing. Adora wants us to wear real lei's, which I'm in favor of for whomever wants to wear them. I'd rather not wear one all night, but I like the idea. See next item for more on this.

IDES Hall Smell-O-Vision - Cathy and Marilyn

Along the lines of the lei's... many have said that it would be cool to have the hall smell of tropical flowers. I'm thinking that if each team member wears a real one and we make up a few more to be placed around the hall, then the hall will smell tropical and as the night wears on. I guess we could have a few at the door, and as people arrive who we assess as a person who will appreciate a real one, we can give a few out at the door, along with the plastic ones we buy from a vendor.

Marilyn and Cathy will handle this; a dozen real and 300 fake and Joe Catt's one-off.

Friday Night - Done

Half Moon Bay Brewing Company (aka; The Shorebird) with special musical guest; The Grant Walters Band (or maybe Big Crawdaddy, I'm not sure! ;-)

Sunday Beach Picnic Done

This will be at Martins Beach. Marilyn set up a catered lunch and she's working on a band or two to play.

I'm trying to get some Frisbees with 2007 Reunion or something printed on them.

Anybody want to handle a volleyball net and equipment? Ideas?

Publicity - June July

The Review will be running an ad every other week, twice a month until a week before the gig.

Tim is going to be putting 2 HUGE signs up near HWY 1. I'm be sending more postcards out for you locals the week of June 24th.

Tickets

I'll start sending out tickets soon. I've received nearly $6200.00 so far. I'm sending out a little DVD gift with the tickets, coastside related.

Things we need to bring to the hall. We can't have too much of this material!

Plug strips, extension cords, those single bulb light fixtures which can be attached to the edge of tables, little tack nails, hammers, ladders, duct tape, strong packing tape, lots of x-mas style lighting strings (orange, white and black would be very cool!), mood lighting ideas and equipment, silk flowers and trees, any pop culture posters you may have, any decorations which might Hawaii up the place, old fishing nets (volleyball nets work) to hang in the corner of the room and bandstand, battery powered candles, extra surf boards (any shape will due), Hawaiian shirts to hang on the walls (I got at least 10, now too small to wear), sheets and or blankets to cover up certain things (teachers awards, etc), orange, black and white spray paint, spray on glue (not for the walls!), double sided carpet tape (to hang light fixtures up, etc.), hand stamps, different removable and no damaging wall adhesives,
