ALIEN AUTOPSY - THE MOVIE

I’ve often been informed that no one is interested in the alien autopsy film anymore. Television companies are not interested in it, as far as the media is concerned the film has been labelled a fake and that’s the end of it. I wonder why that is then that this year, the 10 th anniversary of the alien autopsy film’s release, I personally have been contacted by several television companies who are interested in it and now there is even a movie being made about it.

Ant & Dec.

I first heard of the possibility of movie project about three years ago. At that time I worked for a small publisher here in the UK and the lady who owned the company was formerly in television. Her boyfriend at the time was a television executive and by chance he knew Ray Santilli, the owner of the alien autopsy film. Santilli had told him that he was is discussions about making a movie and that was about it. I heard no more until earlier this year when Santilli himself informed me that he was working on something for later this year but would not elaborate.

The first I heard about the movie itself came from the tabloid newspaper The Sun dated 11th May 2005 . The Sun outlined that British TV stars known as Ant & Dec were teaming up with man behind Channel 4’s hit Shameless and were to make a sci-fi comedy. They would play goofy alien hunters in ‘Alien Autopsy’, a Shaun of the Dead style film directed by Jonny Campbell. Ant & Dec’s characters produce footage of what they claim is an extraterrestrial (the alien autopsy film).

Ant & Dec are best known in the UK as the hosts of the UK version of Pop Idol. They started out as child actors for the BBC before moving on to singing and then into TV presenting. They had a fleeting appearance in the movie ‘Love Actually’ and were apparently overjoyed at landing this film role.

The movie is now in production at Ealing Studios and Ant & Dec play Ray (Santilli) and his friend Gary (Shoefield) who go on a trip to the USA and stumble across a piece of top secret military film that will change the way mankind sees the universe forever. They borrow the money to buy the film from a drug baron and crop circle fanatic and return to the UK with the footage. A media frenzy ensues which thrusts them into the limelight. According to Empire magazine, on 37 July 2005, the pair have a secret of their own and if the truth gets out their lives could be in danger.

The movie will also star Bill Pullman, Omid Djalilli, Morwena Banks and Jimmy Carr. The film was written by Will Davies who previously worked on ‘Johnny English’ and ‘Twins’’, and is being directed by Jonny Campbell. According to The Herald on 9 th August 2005 , actor and comedian Omid Djalilli will play former Greek kebab-shop owner who helps fake the alien autopsy film. According to Djalilli on the surface the movie looks like a light-hearted comedy but it is actually quite deep, making the audience wonder about the existence of life elsewhere in the universe. Another comedian by the name of Jimmy Carr is also in the movie but nothing as yet has been released about his character. Similarly nothing is known of Bill Pullman’s character and the production company responsible are keeping things close to their chest.

Bill Pullman

There has been several news reports concerning the movie which is die for release next spring, the main theme that runs through many of these media reports is that the alien autopsy film is being portrayed as being faked/hoaxed in the movie. Like I said, the exact plot and storyline are being kept secret for the time being but in time all will be revealed I’m sure. One this the movie does prove through is that there is still a great deal of interest in Ray Santilli and his infamous Alien Autopsy footage and it 2006 looks like being an interesting year. We shall have to wait and see.
