The Billy Meier Contactee Case is the grand daddy of UFO enigmas. A cottage industry has been built around the strange (some would say fraudulent) case of Billy Meier, (a one-armed, Swiss based farmer / handy man, presently a UFO / New Age guru). Meier is the proprietor of the industry and figure head to the "most researched UFO case in history," or so says the quote on his video material. Meier has taken at least 1000 (some say up to 3000) 35 mm photos, and at least 12 black & white 8 mm films.

   Many of these photos are very clear and seemingly of the highest quality one could hope for, some of the films are of the same quality. Meier has produced "metal fragments" which he regards as further proof, and he has produced countless pages of "contact notes" which he has transcribe after his many face-to-face and telepathic exchanges with the ET’s he calls the Pleiadians/Plejarans'. To the uninitiated his case seems with out reproach;

   "What could motivate him to fake these photos and films?" "How could he do it with a broken camera and one arm?" "How could an uneducated man write such profound things?" "He's but a poor farmer."

   To the clear thinking, skeptically minded researcher it seems to good to be true.

Analysis at a glance:

   Camera original Positives (it is common practice to shoot "slide" film in Europe) have never been made available for scientific research. Slides made from photographic material of an unknown quality have been used to make the lions share of all commonly available photographic reproductions. These re-productions have been re-produced in countless magazines, videos, films etc. The source material used to make these slides might be from the camera original positives, conversely, they might also be from 6 generation prints, which could allow tricks and photo manipulation techniques to be successfully masked.

   At this time (and after 25 years), no one knows the answer to the camera positive question. The original case researchers state Meier gave away and sold off all his original positives. Even the positives to his fake photos are gone. These fake photos Meier’s readily admits to producing to help substantiate his real photos.

Bottom line?

   Without access to camera original positives, photographic material can not be conclusively tested. Period. Case closed. The initial investigation is inconclusive and therefor unacceptable due to the fact that the original case investigators have never seen (or tested) camera original positives. They can not prove in any conclusive manner that their photographic evidence is first generation prints from the camera original positives. In short, this photographic material may not be what the camera "saw" and then "captured."

   So why spend more time investigating a dubious case? We can not say completely, and without reservation, that Meier didn't experience something and take at least one real photo of an ET craft. But even more worrisome and incredulous, hundreds (possible thousands) of people believe, at least in part, some of what Meier (and others) present as fact. The problem here being, they can't back it up with physical, scientifically researched data.

   This lack of earthly evidence after hundred of face-to-face contact and reams of photographic material is highly unlikely. And yet these people believe him, magazines re-print his photos, videos included his material, and long time proponents continue to chant their call to arms, "It's real!" This kind of blind faith cannot continue if we are ever going to see this thing to the end. The rubbish must be disposed of, the waters must be clarified, the truth must be revealed.

   This case in faulty from the start but people like to believe what they can see and some of Meier’s photographic material can be very convincing. Here we will look into the past and present lives of the people that research the case first, the pioneers. For it is here that the case lives, and dies, under the guise of "skeptical research" by some and a "Need to Believe" dogma of others. The material, and lack there of, speaks for itself. Lastly, we will not concern ourselves with anecdotal "first person" stories, whether it be from Meier’s himself or from his many supporters. This case must stand on its physical evidence, of which there is more than any other case in history, or so we are told.
